Three-time Overall Winners Value Companies and CIS Highlight NJAA Awards Ceremony

It was an unprecedented event as the New Jersey Apartment Association crowned two members for the third time each in the featured Management Company of the Year categories at its 18th Annual Garden State Awards ceremony at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in New Brunswick last night.

Celebrating the achievements of apartment industry leaders across the state, more than 550 association members, management companies and property staff gathered at this year’s Awards and Recognition Dinner, surpassing the attendance record for both 2009 and 2010. This year’s nominations were open in fifty-nine categories to all NJAA members including individuals and properties that showcased industry excellence. Individuals who received industry certification through education sessions at NJAA also received recognition at the event.

Through the Garden State Awards program, NJAA has been recognizing the best apartment professionals throughout New Jersey since 1994. At this year’s ceremony, Value Companies, Inc. claimed the title of Management Company of the Year (Market Rate), one of the most coveted industry awards. The first ever Awards program did not recognize Management Company of the Year, but rather Community of the Year which was awarded to a Value Companies community, Gateways at Randolph. CIS Management Inc was presented with a win for the category of Management Company of the Year (Affordable), another highly regarded recognition. This is the third time CIS has been named Management Company of the year in the 18 year history of the Garden State Awards.

“Each year we anticipate the Garden State Awards ceremony and the opportunity to recognize nominees and award the finalists who work diligently all year to address the needs of their communities,” commented NJAA Executive Director Jean Maddalon. “While there can only be one best-at-anything, the sheer number of nominations said it all - in the eyes of our members, their colleagues, and their residents every nominee is a winner. The New Jersey Apartment Association is honored to celebrate the contributions of these individuals and the well run properties at which they work.”

The Awards Ceremony also included the screening of NJAA’s 25th Anniversary film, celebrating its history and works.  To view the film, click here.
