Football lovers wait all season for the Super Bowl, basketball enthusiasts live for March Madness, and the multi-housing industry’s opportunity for greatness happens at the New Jersey Apartment Association’s Maintenance Mania.  On Tuesday, March 12^th, more than 100 multi-family maintenance technicians from across the state descended upon the New Jersey Expo Center in Edison to compete for time in skill-based table games based on common maintenance activities including the Fluidmaster Duo Flush Toilet Conversions and the Kiddie Fire & Carbon Monoxide Safety Installations.

MacGyver had nothing on Dave Berryman of the Kamson Corporation, who returned to defend and ultimately retain his title for the fifth year in a row.  Maintenance technicians from across the state hoped in vain to dethrone Berryman, but Steve Guzman, also of the Kamson Corporation, came in second for the second year in a row and newcomer, Craig Hintzen of Value Companies rounded out the top three.

Berryman of Bloomingdale, Guzman of Jersey City, and Hintzen of Nutley may also have the chance to represent New Jersey and the Northeast Region at the National Maintenance Mania competition held during the National Apartment Association’s (NAA) 2013 Education Conference in San Diego later this year.
