NJAA Submits Formal Comments Objecting to Proposed Increase in BHI 5-Year Inspection Fees

The NJAA submitted formal comments in advance of the August 1st filing deadline opposing a proposed increase in fees for the BHI 5-Year Inspection.

The Department of Community Affairs (DCA) is proposing to increase a number of fees that support code enforcement and other activities within the Division of Codes & Standards. The increase in 5-Year Inspection fees (28% fee increase) is significantly higher than what is being proposed for other programs (11% fee increase). While NJAA is calling on the Department to pare back the fee increase and delay it until the 2015 calendar year, apartment firms should be aware of the planned increase and prepare as much as possible.
