NJAA News

The NJ Department of Community Affairs (DCA) recently provided additional information on the COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Program (CVERAP). The $100 million program, which was previously announced by Governor Phil Murphy and Lt. Governor Sheila Oliver, will be open to low- and moderate-income households facing a substantial loss of income or job loss due to COVID-19. The application period for the program is now closed.

NJAA has compiled an overview of the program to assist NJAA members. Anything contained in this document should not be considered legal advice.

The document will be updated as additional details on the program become available.

It is important to note that the state has not made clear what obligations a landlord may have if the assistance funds are provided. As soon as this information is available, we will provide it to the NJAA membership.
