NJAA Announces New Online Education System at the 2011 Conference & Expo

Celebrating its 25th Anniversary was only the beginning at this year’s New Jersey Apartment Association Conference, where among a keynote speech by Tiki Barber and an exciting video documentary of Past Presidents, the Association announced it will partner with CallSource to establish a groundbreaking online education management system offering leasing and management training to NJAA members.

More than 200 exhibitor companies and 1,300 multifamily industry professionals attended the Conference & Expo, held for the first time at the Atlantic Convention Center to accommodate its fast expanding audience.

“Education is a cornerstone of the Association,” says NJAA Executive Director Jean Maddalon.  “We strive each and every day to make sure our members are receiving an ample selection of educational offerings and certification courses to enhance their businesses.  As we continue to celebrate our 25th Anniversary year, we are pleased to offer our members another exceptional source for classes and certifications.”

The new education system will be available 24/7, 365 days of the year, making it easier for members to access these courses on their own time.  There are 48 classes to choose from.  Categories include “Getting the most from Results,” “Leasing and Sales,” “Full Compliance,” “Prevention of Sexual Harassment,” “Risk Management,” “Customer Service,” “Leadership Series,” “Maximize your Work Skills,” and “Hone your Maintenance Skills.” Members can access the system via www.njaa.com.

Over the course of three days at this year’s Conference & Expo, conference attendees listened to Tiki Barber’s keynote presentation “Play is Fundamental: How Recreation Makes Individuals, Families and Communities Stronger,” and chose from nineteen educational sessions to attend, including: Going Green in the Garden State: Water Conservation for the New Jersey Marketplace; Dealing with Difficult People; Stop the Concession Madness! How to Gain Confidence and Top Dollar Leases; Fair Housing – What’s Your Disability IQ?; Leasing: Build and Better the Basics; What Is Curb Appeal and How Do I Get It: Learn the Tricks to Outstanding Curb Appeal and How to See What’s Right In Front of You!; Shop Safety; Management Leadership: What Does It Take to Be A Great Manager and Leader; Navigating the Housing Choice (Section 8) Voucher Program; Best Practices for Section 504 and FHAA Compliance; Healthy Apartment Homes: Indoor Air Quality, Lead, Asbestos, and Tobacco Smoke; Understanding the New Customer – Managing the Pace of Information Today; Hands-On Water Conservation and Green Lighting; How to Prepare for a REAC Inspection.

In addition to the educational sessions, attendees explored the expo floor and attended various networking events including the “Anniversary Party” which was held at One Atlantic at the Pier at Caesars.

The NJAA Annual Conference and Expo is attended by owner members and their staffs who own and manage more than 180,000 apartments.  Each year, exhibitors present the latest technology, products and services, providing a means of generating new revenue and reducing costs.
